Dear Students and Parents,
Here is what to expect this quarter:
7th: We will be finishing The Diary of Anne Frank and each week we will work on new vocabulary, take a quiz, write a journal entry that causes us to reflect on our own lives, and do a creative project surrounding the theme of identity. Great job on your "Me Bags!" After we finish this novel, it will be time to take the AIMS test. For the rest of the year, we will work on a folklore unit.
8th: We are now reading Animal Farm and should finish this short novel in the next two weeks. We will have a vocabulary quiz each week, learn new literary terms, take daily comprehension quizzes, participate in class discussions, and discover the political situation that Orwell's famous fable exposes. We will take a final written exam and watch the film version of the story the week before the AIMS test. After AIMS we will read To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. We will conclude the year with a unit on Greek mythology.
Have a great quarter!
Mrs. Rubasch

Great Work!
Nice job on your research projects! Both 7th and 8th grade projects turned out well. For the rest of the quarter...
7th graders will be reading The Diary of Anne Frank and we will resume our regular vocabulary routine with words given out on Monday, the review Wednesday, and the test on Friday. Study your words! We will also have quizzes and summaries for our journal work.
8th graders will be finishing Todd Strasser's The Wave. We will have daily quizzes over this short novel and will conclude by watching the film in class.
Both 7th and 8th grades: We will take our Buckle Down practice test form B before heading into the break.
Thanks for all your hard work,
Mrs. Rubasch
